Airman recieves medal for act of courage

Staff Sgt. Christopher Simmons, 403rd Maintenance Squadron maintainer, holds an Air Force Commendation medal that was presented to him Sept. 11 at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. Simmons received the medal for helping evacuate more than 600 inmates and guards from Escambia County Jail after an explosion and also preventing a secondary explosion there in 2014.(U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Heather Heiney)
