USS Midway in Desert Storm

The USS Midway was the flagship for naval air forces in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm. In 1991, the aircraft carrier transported 60 fighter/attack and support aircraft. The USS Midway launched 3,339 combat sorties during Operation Desert Storm. Then U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Ronald Patton served aboard the aircraft carrier as a parachute rigger. Patton is now a staff sergeant assigned to the 403rd Wing’s 403rd Operations Support Squadron at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. (Courtesy photo)
