From the Ground Up

Laying beneathe the belly of the beast, Senior Airman Michael Gehl, a communications/navigation technician with the 403rd Avionics Flight, checks the Doppler velocity sensor on a C-130J during a maintenance inspection. This type of inspection is conducted after an aircraft leaves the washrack. Other checks after a wash include a corrosion inspection and a function check of the antenna selectors inside the aircraft.
