John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”

Leadership can be demonstrated in many different ways. Some may demonstrate leadership simply having a good ear to listen. Others may have a keen eye to see changes that need to happen as well as preventing changes that would burden the team. While others may best demonstrate leadership by simply espousing leadership techniques and philosophies.

In more than 29 years I have found few leaders who have wrapped up all the different qualities into the fiber of their being. These few simply demonstrate leadership through love of country and love of the greatest air power and Airmen this planet has ever known.

This weekend we bid farewell and fair skies to Col. Michael Manion who is one of those few. It has truly been my privilege and honor to have served with him through good times and tough times. The 403rd is your family and always will be! We look forward to hearing of your future successes and seeing you at future family/Wing days. Thank you for being our nation’s sword and shield.
