Lt. Col. Timothy Voss, 89th Airlift Squadron flight commander at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, took command of the 403rd Operational Support Squadron from Lt. Col. William Bundy during a change of command ceremony at the 815th Airlift Squadron Auditorium here Aug. 3.

Bundy is now the deputy commander of the 403rd Operations Group.

During the ceremony, the presiding officer, Lt. Col. Robert Stanton, 403rd Operations Group deputy commander, received the unit guidon from Bundy and entrusted it into the hands of Voss.

Stanton assured the audience that the tradition of excellence upheld by Bundy, who commanded the squadron for four-and-a-half years, will continue with Voss.

"We're heading in a great direction," said Stanton. "He is the perfect guy to take what was built and help it propel forward."

Voss entered the Air Force in 1994 through ROTC at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He has held a variety of jobs throughout his career to include communications officer, air battle manager, C-5 Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster III pilot and flight commander.

"I'm incredibly excited to be back here at Keesler after being away for more than 18 years," Voss said to the audience, which included his wife Vanessa and their daughters Sarah and Sophia. "I first came to the Gulf Coast as a second lieutenant in 1994 attending the Basic Communications Officer Training School."

According to Voss, coming to Keesler for his change of command brought a sense of nostalgia and pride.

"As I drove onto the base a few days ago, I couldn't believe that I was being given the privilege of working with the men and women of the 403rd Wing here on the Gulf Coast where my Air Force career all began. For me, the circle is complete," Voss said.

As Voss settles into his position, he plans to focus on support and training.

"My focus as the OSS commander is to ensure we continue to provide world-class support to the Wing's flying squadrons ensuring they are ready, equipped and trained to execute the Nation's call," Voss explained.

Voss believes his experiences have prepared him to be successful in his new role.

"I think that my varied background, from communications officer to air battle manager and then mobility pilot, is an asset to this position because I have a very broad outlook and can come at the challenges we will face with a different perspective," said Voss.

"Together as a team, I know we will continue to be successful in our mission and I'm excited about the future," said Voss.
