Two 403rd maintenance reservists were honored as the recipients of the 2014 Air Force Reserve Command General Lew Allen Jr. Award during a ceremony held at the Roberts Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Facility here Sept. 13. Lt. Col. Edward Segura, 403rd Maintenance Group deputy commander, and Master Sgt. John Dufrene, 403rd Maintenance Group noncommissioned officer-in-charge of maintenance operations control, were recognized as recipients of the awards, which are given annually to honor a base-level officer and a senior NCO working in aircraft, munitions or missile maintenance directly involved in sortie generation. "I was very honored to receive the award, and I feel it is a direct reflection of the total efforts of the 403rd maintenance members both deployed and at their home station," said Colonel Segura. Sergeant Dufrene echoed the colonel's reaction to receiving the award, praising the 403rd maintenance members as a whole. "It feels good to be recognized, but this award is truly a credit to the hard work and dedication among all the members of the 403rd maintenance team," said Dufrene. The two Citizen Airmen are eligible to compete for the Air Force-wide 2014 General Lew Allen Jr. Trophy.
