KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- During the May Unit Training Assembly, the Rising 6 organization is putting on the wing’s first family day since before the COVID-19 Pandemic in early 2020.
“We’re excited to finally be able to hold an event for our members and their families again,” said Tech. Sgt. Kyle Stoeger, 403rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and Rising 6 member. “It’s a great opportunity to give back to the families that sacrifice so much to support the Airmen of this wing, and it’s just a great opportunity to relax and enjoy the camaraderie events like these provide.”
The Family Day festivities will begin at noon May 14 at the fuel cell hangar, building 4278, and the event is open to all wing members and their families.
Attractions will include a canine demonstration by the 81st Security Forces Squadron, face-painting, a bounce castle, axe throwing, and more. Stoeger said there will also be a DJ present and plenty of food and beverages provided.
“We’ll also have two static aircraft on display outside of the fuel cell showcasing our ‘Flying Jennies’ and ‘Hurricane Hunters’ flying missions as well as a setup of our aeromedical evacuation mission provided by the 36th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron,” he said.
As for lodging, Airmen who are eligible for UTA lodging who plan to bring their families will be accommodated to a certain extent.
According to information provided by Senior Master Sgt. Lisa Baldelli, 403rd Force Support Squadron services senior enlisted leader, E-4 Airmen and below who plan to bring their families with them need to notify their first sergeant or supervisor when booking lodging, as those Airmen are subject to being lodged in double rooms.
Members will need to either call the automated system or book on the lodging app as normal before identifying to their unit they will have family members. Regardless of how many family members they bring, the wing will only provide one room per Airman. The automated system closes May 6 for the May UTA.
