Inspect the Gadget
KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Tech. Sgt. Anthony Stewart, communications/navigation technician, 403rd Avionics Flight , inspects the antenna of an emergency locator transmitter used on a WC-130J aircraft flown by the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron. Avionics technicians ensure that the various antennas located on top of the aircraft are in working order, all part of keeping the wing's aircraft in tip-top flying condition. Maintaining the emergency locator transmitter and its antenna is especially important since rescuers would have to hone in on the ELT's signal in case the aircraft went down.
