403rd ASTS Preps For ORI with Mass Casualty Exercise

KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- -- During the November Unit Training Assembly, members of the 403rd Aeromedical Staging Squadron participated in a mass casualty exercise in preparation for the 403rd Wing's upcoming Operational Readiness Inspection.

Ten "casualties" with various injuries were gathered into a triage area to determine how they would be routed for treatment.

Patients were then transported by a medical bus to the Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility, which acts as a temporary field hospital.

Once their conditions were assessed and stabilized, the ASTS members simulated loading the patients onto the bus for transport to the flightline for aeromedical evacuation.
