Air Force. Air Force Reserve. 403rd Wing, group, squadron, flight. Let me ask, did you immediately think of your military family when hearing those words? What images, stories and memories came rushing to mind? A unit training assembly? A temporary duty assignment? Maybe a deployment that was experienced together?

Having a military family is important, and we are blessed to be a part of a great one with so many talented and amazing Airmen. One of the most valuable resources we have for personal or professional growth and family cohesion is often times hidden in the people around us. I challenge you to intentionally engage in conversation with those Airmen. Discover what their passions, purpose and greatness are. You will be amazed at what you find.

I have been a member of the 403rd family for five years now and every day I discover talented and amazing Airmen. They’re accomplishing great things, collaborating and doing everything they can to support family, community and mission.

Our 403rd family has gone through some rough times, but what family doesn’t?Going through rough times and coming out the other side is the common bond that builds strong, solid and supported families. The 403rd family has changed and will continue to change, there’s no doubt about it! We’re building on our past, changing and growing into a bigger, better family. That’s where our focus needs to be.

So, take some time, right now, to reflect on the images, stories, memories, and experiences shared with one another. Reflect on what your military family means to you, both your uniformed family and your family at home that supports you. Appreciate them, support them and be thankful that you’re a part of a great family. I am proud to serve
