Resources available for 403rd Wing members affected by flooding

KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. --   A major disaster area was declared Aug. 14 in East Baton Rouge, Livingston, St. Helena and Tangipahoa, Louisiana, following severe storms in the area. Damage assessments are continuing for other parishes. 

 

Individuals and business owners who sustained losses in the designated area can begin applying for assistance by registering online at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362.  Disaster assistance applicants who have a speech disability or hearing loss and use TTY should call 800-462-7585 directly; for those who use 711 or Video Relay Service, call 800-621-3362. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.

 

There are several additional resources available for 403rd Wing members who live in the area and were affected by flooding including:

  • American Red Cross
  • Military One Source
  • Small Business Administration
  • Salvation Army
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency
  • VFW

Wing civilians and air reserve technicians can also use the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund for disaster relief assistance. Traditional reserve members on Title 10 orders may also contact the Air Force Aid Society to apply for grants and no interest loans.

 

Those who require leave because they were affected by the flooding or would like to volunteer their time to help with recovery efforts should contact their supervisor for approval.
