Engine Cleanup

After removing a cylinder head from a diesel engine used to power a generator used for aircraft maintenance, Tech. Sgt. Ralph P. Guevara, an avionics technician from the 403rd Maintenance Squadron, cleans up and removes old gasket material from the exhaust side of the cylinder head. The cylinder head was removed to replace a blown gasket and stop an oil leak.

On the rack, Aircraft 8156, assigned to the 815th Airlift Squadron's Flying Jennies, is supported by jack stands while maintainers from the 403rd Maintenance Squdrons's Aero Repair Shop conduct look after one of the 18 C-130J Super Hercules aircraft in the 403rd Wing fleet. This airframe is a C-130J-30 which is a "stretched" version of the J-model that has an extra 15 feet in length allowing the Jennies to carry more cargo. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Tech. Sgt. James B.
