Lil' Bill Takes Flight
KEESLER AFB, Miss. -- Lil' Bill, a miniature model of the C-130J, was loaded up in support of local Mardi Gras parades. Lil' Bill was built by the 403rd Wing Fabrication Shop in 1999 to enhance community relations and outreach to the public. Lil' Bill will be sent to Dobbins ARB, Marrietta, Ga. to take part in several events throughout the next six months in the metro-Atlanta area leading up to Air Force Week, Oct. 8-14. The Air Force Week program is meant to increase the awareness and support of the public for our Airmen by informing them and involving them in activities that showcase our diverse capabilities and missions, our accomplishments and the sacrifice of our Airmen. Aircraft Dedication
Mayor Brent Warr, Gulfport, and Brig. Gen. Richard Moss unveil the city's logo on a WC-130J "Hurricane Hunter" aircraft during dedication ceremonies Sept. 20, 2006. Aircraft are named "The Spirit of," to remind the aircrew they carry with them on each flight the hopes and prayers of their fellow citizens and to remind the community this aircraft and aircrew are dedicated to protecting their way of life.

Aircraft Dedication
The 403rd Wing dedicated one of its C-130J-30 "Flying Jenny" aircraft to the City of Biloxi Sept. 20, 2006. Representative for the city, Mr. Nathan Sullivan accepted a placque on behalf of Biloxi and assisted Brig. Gen. Richard Moss, commander 403rd Wing, in unveiling the city's logo as the nose art for the aircraft.

Katrina Commemoration
Senator Trent Lott, applauds as a WC-130J "Hurricane Hunter" passes over the crowd during his speech to the people of Biloxi, Miss. during ceremonies in memory of Hurricane Katrina. Still Rebuilding
Workers remove the last of the "blue roof" from the 403rd Wing Headquarters building. The building was heavily damaged during Hurricane Katrina last year. Damages to wing facilities totaled more than $40 million, with rebuilding and repairs still ongoing nearly a year later. The wing's command section and headquarters staff are located in temporary trailers and many other offices from other affected buildings have been relocated to temporary office spaces.

J-Model Draws Foreign Interest
Brig. Gen. Rich Moss, commander, 403rd Wing, gives a tour of his fleet of C-130J aicraft to Brig. Gen. Juraj Baranek, chief of the Slovak air force, and other senior representatives from the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic. The delegation, led by Lt. Gen. L'ubomir Bulik, chief of the general staff, Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic traveled here to learn more about the C-130J aicraft and the capabilities, military requirements and costs necessary to support a fully operational C-130J Wing. The group travels to Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. for a visit with the 94th Airlift Wing and Lockheed Martin, manufacturer of the C-130J.

Lt. Col. Jay Jensen is the new commander of the 403rd Operations Group, 403rd Wing Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. The 403rd Operations Group is made up of the 403rd Operations Support Flight, the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, also known as the Hurricane Hunters and the 815th Airlift Squadron, known as the Flying Jennies.

C-130J Delivery
Lt. Gen. John A. Bradley, commander of Air Force Reserve Command, sits in in the cockpit before takeoff in a new C-130J Hercules Monday from the Lockheed-Martin facility in Marietta, Ga. General Bradley helped ferry the Herc from Marietta to the 403rd Wing at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. The flight took about one hour.
