Mass Enlistment
Brig. Gen. Richard Moss, commander, 403rd Wing, renders the oath of enlistment to a group of Air Force Reserve enlistees. The mass enlistment, held on the Keesler Air Force Base flight line, was set up by the 403rd Recruiting Squadron. Recruiters from the squadron stand behind the new Reservists as they take the oath. The 403rd Wing's newly named aircraft the "Spirit of Gulfport" served as the backdrop for the ceremony. Enlistees and their families also toured the aircraft.

Happy Birthday Air Force
Members of Team Keesler join hands as they cut the cake commemorating the Air Force's 59th birthday, during a ceremony here at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. On Sept. 18, 1947 Harry S. Truman, 33rd president, established the Air Force after lessons learned from World Wars I and II. Celebrating the event from left to right: Brig. Gen. C-130J-30 Delivery
Maj. Gen. Allan R. Poulin, vice commander, Air Force Reserve Command, indicates a smooth ride and safe landing here May 26, when he delivered the latest addition to the 403rd Wing's fleet of C-130J-30 aircraft. A crew from the 403rd Wing accepted delivery of the new aircraft from Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer, in Marietta, Ga. earlier in the day. General Poulin, who spent much of his military career flying fighter aircraft, said he was impressed with the Herc. The 815th Airlift Squadron, the unit which employs the "stretched" transport, expects delivery of another aircraft before the end of the year.

J-Model Draws Foreign Interest
Brig. Gen. Rich Moss, commander, 403rd Wing, gives a tour of his fleet of C-130J aicraft to Brig. Gen. Juraj Baranek, chief of the Slovak air force, and other senior representatives from the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic. The delegation, led by Lt. Gen. L'ubomir Bulik, chief of the general staff, Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic traveled here to learn more about the C-130J aicraft and the capabilities, military requirements and costs necessary to support a fully operational C-130J Wing. The group travels to Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. for a visit with the 94th Airlift Wing and Lockheed Martin, manufacturer of the C-130J.

Senior Airman Angela Wuest, an aerospace propulsion technician with the 403rd Maintenance Squadrons engine shop, prepares a C-130H model propeller for shipment to another unit. The 403rd Wing has officially transitioned to the C-130J-30 and WC-130J. All of the H-models have been or will soon be re-allocated to other units along with the inventory of spare parts.

Lt. Col. Jay Jensen is the new commander of the 403rd Operations Group, 403rd Wing Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. The 403rd Operations Group is made up of the 403rd Operations Support Flight, the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, also known as the Hurricane Hunters and the 815th Airlift Squadron, known as the Flying Jennies.
