Power Up
Senior Airman Cletus Burroughs, an instruments/flight control systems specialist for the 403rd Avionics Flight, applies power to one of the WC-130Js for the Hurricane Hunters to begin performing an operations check. Airman Burroughs is also taking part in the Seaonal Training Program. Like Airman Patton, Airman Burroughs only needs to perform nine months of trainng since he is prior service. He completes his training at Kessler Air Force Base October 5.

Close Quarters
Sometimes the work environment can get a little cramped on the Hurricane Hunters' WC-130Js. Senior Airman Harlon Patton, 403rd Avionics Flight instruments/flight control systems specialist, performs an internal bit test for the co-pilot's Heads-Up Display. Airman Patton also is partipating in the Seasonal Training Program for the Avionics Flight. As a prior service member who performed this particular job on active-duty side, Airman Patton only need to complete nine nmonths of training instead of a full year.

Tools of the Trade
They have the tools, and they have the talent. Senior Airman Erik Waters, 403rd Avionics Flight instruments/flight control systems specialist, searches through his flightline tool kit for a screwdriver to open and inspect the color multi-function display unit (CMFD). This unit acts as a "window into the aircraft," providing situational awareness for the flight crews on the C-130J models.
Airman Waters has been on active duty orders at Kessler Air Force base since July as a part of the Avionics Flight Seasonal Training Program. This program offers a year's worth of hands-on experience to avionics tech. school graduates, providing them with an excellent opportunity to become more familiar with the work they perform on the C-130Js.

Maintenance
The flying squadrons of the 403rd are constantly in the air completing a number of missions, but when they are on the ground, the aircrafts go through intensive care. And They're Off
Family members of the 815th Airlift Squadron "Flying Jennies" bid farewell to their loved ones, who departed Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss. Aug. 25 for their deployment to Southwest Asia. While these Citizen Airmen are the first members of the 815th AS to depart, others are scheduled to leave in early September.

403rd Honors POW/MIAs
Senior Airman Mike Rutherford puts the final touches to the POW/MIA artwork on the 815th Airlift Squadron Flying Jenny aircraft 8156.
The Citizen Airmen of the 403rd Wing pay tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice by placing the emblem on the nose of the aircraft.
Plans for a formal ceremony dedicating the aircraft to veterans are being formalized.

Family Day
Erin Loyd sings her heart out in the talent show at the 403rd Wing Family Day. She placed first after a crowd winning performance. Erin beamed as Colonel David Konneker handed her the first place trophy. The rest of the competitors placed as follows: Second- Kayla Destephani, Third- C.J. Destephani, Honorable Mention- Candy Loyd and Erica Baily.
